Remote Web Developer for Businesses in the Netherlands

As a remote web developer for the Netherlands, I build websites, online stores and web apps for Dutch businesses from Itahari, Nepal, where your morning falls inside my working afternoon. I’m Ujjwal Rupakheti, with 3+ years and 13+ projects shipped. Everything runs in English, checkout includes iDEAL | Wero, and the price is fixed in writing.

Working in English

A Remote Web Developer for the Netherlands, Working in English

The Netherlands ranked first in the world in EF’s 2025 English Proficiency Index, and many Dutch startups already run in English. So calls, scope, code comments and handover notes can all be in English, with nothing lost in translation.

Your customers may still expect Dutch, so the site itself is usually Dutch first, with English for expats, international staff or buyers abroad.

  • Startups: a first SaaS version or marketplace you can show to users and investors.
  • SMEs and webshops: a site that has fallen behind, rebuilt fast, accessible and ready for Wero.
  • Fixed scope: I work as a project-based web developer, so you pay for a defined result, not for hours.

Time zones

Netherlands to Nepal Time Difference, Winter and Summer

Nepal stays on UTC+5:45 all year, so it is 4 h 45 min ahead of the Netherlands in winter (CET) and 3 h 45 min ahead in summer (CEST).

Payments

iDEAL and Wero Checkout for Dutch Online Stores

iDEAL | Wero is the most popular way to pay online in the Netherlands, with more than 60% of online payments by Stripe’s figures. Shoppers approve the payment in their own banking app, so it belongs at the top of any Dutch checkout.

iDEAL is becoming Wero, the European wallet run by EPI. The iDEAL | Wero name and logo arrived in early 2026, the Dutch Payments Association expected every Dutch bank to be connected to Wero by October 2026, and the move should be complete by 31 December 2027 at the latest.

  • iDEAL | Wero through Mollie, Adyen or Stripe
  • The current iDEAL | Wero name and logo
  • Card and PayPal beside it for buyers abroad
  • Payment confirmed by webhook, not the redirect
  • Refunds and failed payments visible in the admin
  • Built on your provider’s API, where the switch happens

Payments are familiar ground: Sajilai takes eSewa, Khalti, Fonepay and bank QR payments, and Eknas signs every webhook with HMAC-SHA256.

An example Dutch checkout: iDEAL | Wero first, in Dutch, with card and PayPal for everyone else.

Dutch rules

AVG, Cookie Banners and KVK Details, Built In

Dutch websites follow the GDPR, called the AVG in Dutch and enforced by the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP), plus Dutch rules on cookies, business details and accessibility.

The AVG

A lawful basis for every form, a privacyverklaring that matches what the site really collects, and EU hosting in your company’s name. I build the technical side; your privacy officer or lawyer approves the texts.

EU-wide

Cookie Banners and the AP

Tracking cookies need consent under the Telecommunicatiewet and the AVG. The AP’s 2024 guidance says a banner with “accept all” on its first layer needs a reject option there too, just as visible. I build them that way, with no pre-ticked boxes.

Every site

Your KVK Number on the Site

KVK says your KVK number must appear on your website, as well as on invoices, quotes, letters and business emails. I put it in the footer with your registered address and VAT number.

Business sites

Accessibility Since June 2025

Under the European Accessibility Act, Dutch webshops, marketplaces and booking sites for consumers must be accessible; the ACM supervises e-commerce, and micro-enterprises are exempt for services. I build to WCAG 2.1 AA.

Shops and bookings

Built with these rules in mind; your lawyer has the final say. I’m a developer, not an advocaat, and none of this is legal advice.

Nederlands & English

Dutch and English Websites That Rank on google.nl

Dutch shoppers search in Dutch, but many Dutch sites also need English. Flanders speaks Dutch too, so one Dutch version can often serve Belgium as well, with an nl-BE page only where prices, delivery or legal details differ.

  • Dutch and English on separate URLs
  • hreflang nl-NL, nl-BE and en, plus x-default
  • Dutch keywords researched on google.nl
  • Banner, forms and errors in both languages
  • A .nl domain and EU hosting in your name
  • Copy from your writer; I don’t write Dutch

There were 6,059,392 .nl domain names at the end of 2025, by SIDN’s count. Two-language builds are familiar ground: Nimtto runs a Nepal site and an international site with hreflang between them.

The same page in Dutch and English, each on its own URL, so Google can show the right one.

I saw a real problem in the Nepali market: online wedding invitations were made for Western weddings, not for ours. Ujjwal Rupakheti helped me bring my idea to reality. He built Nimtto with Nepali and English, Bikram Sambat dates and RSVPs for every ceremony, exactly the way I imagined it.

At Ektukra Digital Agency I also worked on Prishta, school report card software. Every project is on my case studies page.

FAQ: Hiring a Remote Web Developer for a Dutch Business

Language, shared hours, iDEAL and Wero, cookies, accessibility and payment, answered for Dutch companies.

Ask me on WhatsApp

Can a Dutch Company Hire a Remote Web Developer in Nepal?

Yes. Dutch companies can contract me directly as an independent developer based in Itahari, Nepal. The quote is fixed and in USD, the contract is in English, payment goes by bank transfer, Wise or PayPal, and I sign an NDA on request. The code and intellectual property become your company’s on payment.

Do I Need to Speak Dutch to Work with You?

No. Calls, the written scope, updates, code comments and handover notes are all in English, which suits most Dutch startups and SMEs. I don’t write Dutch myself, so the Dutch copy for your site comes from you or a writer, and I build the Dutch and English versions around it.

What is the Time Difference Between the Netherlands and Nepal?

Nepal is 4 hours 45 minutes ahead of the Netherlands in winter (CET) and 3 hours 45 minutes ahead in summer (CEST), because Nepal never changes its clocks. So 9:00 in Amsterdam is 13:45 in Nepal in winter and 12:45 in summer, and the live overlap runs from 9:00 to 13:15 your time, or 14:15 in summer.

Can You Add iDEAL | Wero to My Online Store?

Yes. I add iDEAL | Wero through a payment provider such as Mollie, Adyen or Stripe, with the current name and logo, card and PayPal beside it, and payment status confirmed by the provider’s webhook rather than the browser redirect. Your provider account and payouts stay in your company’s name.

What Happens to iDEAL When It Becomes Wero?

iDEAL is moving onto Wero, the European wallet run by EPI. The iDEAL | Wero logo arrived in early 2026, Dutch banks were due to connect to Wero by October 2026, and the move should be finished by the end of 2027. Shoppers keep paying through their own bank; stores follow their provider’s update steps.

Does My Cookie Banner Need a Reject Button?

If you use tracking cookies, almost certainly. The Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens says that when the first layer of a banner offers “accept all”, it must offer a reject option there too, just as visible and with no extra clicks. I build banners that way, with nothing pre-ticked. Your lawyer confirms the details.

Must My Webshop Meet the Accessibility Rules?

Probably, if you sell to consumers. Since June 2025 the European Accessibility Act covers Dutch webshops, marketplaces and booking sites, supervised by the ACM, while micro-enterprises are exempt for services. I build to WCAG 2.1 AA and test with a keyboard and screen reader; your lawyer confirms what applies.

Do You Quote in Euros or Dollars?

In US dollars, like all my clients outside Nepal. The price is fixed in the contract, and you pay by bank transfer, Wise or PayPal in milestones, after seeing each one working on the preview link. Wise and PayPal show the euro amount before you send. Domain, hosting and paid tools are extra.
