I’m Ujjwal Rupakheti, a full-stack web developer and SEO specialist based in Itahari. For 3+ years I’ve built websites, product catalogues and SaaS for businesses in Nepal. In Lalitpur I work with Patan’s craft workshops and exporters, software firms and neighbourhood businesses, online over WhatsApp and video, and visit Patan when the work needs it.

Technical SEO for software firms’ own websites
Pages that use both names people search: Patan and Lalitpur
Lalitpur Metropolitan City, the old city of Patan, sits just across the Bagmati River from Kathmandu. Within a few kilometres you find centuries-old metal workshops and some of Nepal’s best-known software offices, and they need very different websites.
Old Patan: Metal, Wood & Carpets
Patan Durbar Square is one of the seven monument zones of the Kathmandu Valley World Heritage Site, and the Patan Museum beside it is known for its bronzes and gilded repoussé. In the lanes nearby, workshops still cast statues by the lost-wax method. Patan Industrial Estate at Lagankhel, set up in 1963, houses metal, wood and weaving workshops, and Jawalakhel is known for Tibetan carpet weaving.

New Lalitpur: Software, Fintech & Cafés
Pulchowk, Jhamsikhel, Sanepa and Kupondole hold many of the valley’s software and fintech offices, close to Pulchowk Campus, the central campus of the Institute of Engineering. Around them have grown the cafés, co-working spaces, clinics and schools of a young, busy part of the valley.

Websites for Patan’s Workshops and Exporters
A buyer in Europe or the US who wants a hand-cast statue, a singing bowl or a knotted carpet starts on Google, in English, often with words like handmade, wholesale or manufacturer. They want to see the piece from every side, its size and weight, how long an order takes and how it ships. If your site can’t show that, the order goes to a seller whose site can.
I build catalogue sites around those questions: one page per product or collection, photos sized to load fast, specifications in a table, and an enquiry button that opens WhatsApp or email with the product already named. Product and organisation structured data helps Google show the right page, and descriptive alt text helps your photos appear in image search.

Export searches come mostly from outside Nepal, in English. Plan pages for them, not only for walk-in visitors.
Software companies often build excellent products and neglect their own website. The usual problems are JavaScript pages that render blank for crawlers, missing structured data and blog posts nobody searches for. I fix those in the code, and I build first versions of SaaS products for founders.
Ask ten people where a café is and some will say Patan, some Lalitpur and some just Jhamel. Google treats those names as related, not identical, so a Lalitpur business should use the names its customers use, and spell them the same way everywhere.
A Local Plan for a Lalitpur Business
Distances here are short on the map and slow at rush hour, so people choose what is near. A precise profile and steady reviews do more than one more blog post.

Working together
Online from Itahari, with Visits to Patan
Most Lalitpur projects run entirely online: calls on WhatsApp or video in Nepali or English, a shared folder for photos and a preview link each week. The price is fixed before work starts, and you pay in stages by eSewa, Khalti or bank transfer.
Workshops: a visit is worth it for a large catalogue, to plan the photos and see how orders really move from enquiry to dispatch.
Software firms: rarely need a visit. We share a repository, an issue list and a weekly call.
Confidential work: I’m happy to sign an NDA before you share code or supplier details.
Pricing
Website Cost in Lalitpur and Patan
Prices are the same across Nepal: websites from NPR 18,000, online stores from NPR 60,000, SaaS from NPR 70,000 and SEO audits from NPR 15,000. A catalogue with many products usually fits the CMS tier; dealer logins or custom ordering are quoted on top.

Do You Build Product Catalogues for Patan Handicraft Exporters?
Yes. A catalogue site gives each product or collection its own page with photos, size, weight, material, lead time and an enquiry button. You add new pieces yourself through a CMS. Catalogue websites start at NPR 35,000, and I’ve built one with a self-service CMS for a handmade carpet exporter.
Should My Website Say Patan or Lalitpur?
Both, in the right places. Keep the official Lalitpur address on your site and Google Business Profile, and use Patan or your neighbourhood in titles and text where customers would. Visitors and buyers abroad often know Patan better, while local searches mix the two names.
How Much Does a Website Cost in Lalitpur?
A static site for a café, clinic or studio starts at NPR 18,000. A catalogue or business site with a CMS starts at NPR 35,000, and an online store at NPR 60,000. Each quote is fixed in writing after a short call, and domain and hosting are billed separately.
Can Buyers Abroad Order Through My Website?
Yes, and for made-to-order work the usual route is an enquiry, then a quotation and invoice from you. That suits pieces whose price depends on size, finish and shipping. For standard items, card checkout can be added through a gateway your bank supports. We choose the route on our first call.
Why Would a Software Company Hire Me for SEO?
Because the problems are usually in the code, not the content. Single-page apps that render blank for crawlers, missing structured data and slow first loads are common on company sites. A technical audit from NPR 15,000 lists every fix in order, and I can make the fixes myself.
Can You Build the First Version of Our SaaS?
Yes. A focused first version starts at NPR 70,000 and usually takes 6 to 12 weeks, with accounts, plans, payments and an admin console. I build on Next.js, Node and PostgreSQL, the stack behind my own products such as Jhino, and the code is yours on final payment.
Do You Visit Businesses in Lalitpur?
When it helps the project. A large catalogue benefits from a visit to plan photos and see the order process; a software project almost never does. We agree any visit and its travel cost before it’s booked, and the rest of the work runs online.
How Do I Get My Jhamsikhel Café into the Map Results?
Start with a complete Google Business Profile: the right category, an exact pin, real photos, your menu and opening hours. Then build reviews steadily and give the profile a fast page to link to. Most cafés see map changes within weeks once the basics are fixed, though no one can promise a position.
Will You Sign an NDA?
Yes. Software firms and exporters often want one before sharing code, pricing or supplier details, and I’m happy to sign it before we talk specifics. Your designs, product photos and customer lists are used only for your project, and my access is removed when we finish.
Who Owns the Website and the Code?
You do. After the final payment the repository, domain, hosting and admin accounts are in your name, and I hand over the logins with a short guide to running the site. If you later hire someone else, they can pick up the code without asking me for anything.
